The Oxford Tap: A Community Staple Serving Comfort Food, Hospitality, and Heart
Located at 36 South Washington Street, Oxford, MI 48371, The Oxford Tap has been a beloved part of the community for more than two decades. Owners Louie Conley and Mike Phipps have been involved since the early 2000s, watching Oxford grow and evolving right along with it. Known for great food, cold drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere, The Oxford Tap continues to be a go-to gathering place for locals.
The Tap is best known for its comfort food favorites such as chicken wings, macaroni and cheese, hamburgers, and other classic dishes that keep customers coming back. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable about food allergies, and the kitchen is careful about avoiding cross-contamination, which is especially appreciated by guests with gluten sensitivities.
Community support is at the heart of everything The Oxford Tap does. Mike and Shari shared that they “don’t say no” when it comes to helping. Over the years, they have supported Oxford Parades, high school and middle school athletics, DDA events, Shop with a Hero, and countless programs beyond Oxford as well. One longtime tradition is donating food for the Oxford High School Senior All Night Party, something they have done for approximately 25 years.
The Oxford Tap also offers catering and private event hosting, now made possible by their expanded space. They can accommodate large parties and special occasions including baby showers, rehearsal dinners, holiday gatherings, and celebration-of-life events. Popular catered items include their signature wings and macaroni and cheese, but their chef is known for creating custom menus featuring anything from roast beef to beef tenderloin.
Each December, The Oxford Tap hosts its much-loved Customer Appreciation Night, paired with an annual canned food drive. The community fills an entire truck with canned goods that are distributed to Oxford/Orion FISH or to local pantries in Lapeer and Dryden. In exchange, guests enjoy strolling appetizers, live entertainment, and giveaways, with nearly everyone leaving with a small gift.
Their Customer Appreciation Night this year takes place on Thursday, December 11, the night after the Chamber’s Holiday Party, which The Tap is also hosting.
