Sick Town Hall: Family, Community, and Great Pizza
Scott Taylor knows pizza is more than just food; it is a connection to community, family, and a lifelong passion. Scott co-owns Sick Pizza in downtown Oxford, Michigan and recently opened Sick Town Hall, bringing his love for authentic, flavorful pizza to Lake Orion.
Scott’s journey in pizza started early. “I was in the pizza business when I was a kid, and I even owned a pizzeria in my early twenties,” he shared. After exploring other careers, including running a sign business, working in plumbing, and a stint in a tax inventory company, Scott returned to pizza during COVID. “I worked three days a week with an old friend who owned a pizzeria in Clarkston, just having fun doing prep. That reminded me how much I loved pizza.”
In 2021, Scott and his business partner, Tom Bailey, purchased what is now Sick Pizza, reopening it on Father’s Day. The name of the Sick businesses was inspired by Scott Taylor’s business partner, Tom Bailey, a race car enthusiast whose racing team is called Sick. “We thought it was perfect for our brand,” Scott said. They brought in recipes from a trusted colleague, refined them, and quickly built a loyal customer base. “Right away, we partnered with the brewery across the street and even set up QR codes on tables so people could order pizza directly. That partnership was a huge success,” he said.
Scott and Tom’s newest venture, Sick Town Hall, opened on August 1, 2025. He and his team retained 98 percent of the staff from the previous establishment, and immediately became a hub for locals. “I’m deeply ingrained in this community,” Scott said. “My wife, my kids, and I all live here. We are committed to Lake Orion.”
Beyond pizza, Scott emphasizes community involvement. He serves on the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) board in Oxford, participates in local fundraisers, and supports projects that improve the area’s public spaces. He has also served on the Lake Orion Community Schools Board of Education since 2014. “I love the camaraderie between business owners. Everyone helping each other, buying local, and supporting local. Those connections make all the difference,” he said.
For Scott, success isn’t just about sales; it’s about relationships and reputation. “Oxford is a tough market, and Lake Orion is competitive too,” he explained. “The reason people come back is because they love the food, they love the brand, and they know we care about them. That is the philosophy we live by.”
Whether it is Sick Pizza or Sick Town Hall, Scott Taylor and Tom Bailey are building more than restaurants. They are creating local gathering spots where families, friends, and neighbors can connect over great pizza and a welcoming atmosphere.
