Mary Pytel introduced herself with the warm confidence of someone who knows her members well, “I am the branch manager at Vibe Credit Union here in Oxford.” Vibe has been part of the community since 2008. The branch began inside the Meijer store and eventually moved to the Plaza at Oxford Commons, where it has continued to grow and build relationships.

“What I would like you to know about Vibe is we are community based. We are here to help our community,” Mary explained. Her team focuses on elevating the financial well being of their members, whether that means saving more, improving credit, or finding better options for loans and home equity programs. The branch is small, but it thrives on close connections. Mary smiled as she described how her staff greets many members by name and strives to make every interaction feel personal.

When asked about service to Oxford and the surrounding region, Mary pulled from a list of efforts. Her branch works closely with several food pantries, including Lighthouse of Oakland County in Pontiac and the Waterford satellite food pantry. Staff members help provide food, pack boxes, and support deliveries wherever they are needed. Vibe also participates in projects with Habitat for Humanity. Teams from all fifteen branches have helped rehab homes in Pontiac and nearby communities. Mary shared that Vibe staff have contributed more than seven thousand hours of community service so far, a number that reflects the credit union’s culture of giving.

The conversation returned to the members themselves. Mary emphasized how much the Oxford team cares for the people who walk through their doors. “We love our members. We want to provide financial help to them,” she said. Many families are working through financial challenges, and Vibe aims to guide them toward stability. Consolidation, better rates, and improved cash flow can make daily life easier, and Mary’s team is committed to finding solutions.
