Oxford Bank: Community First, Service Always
Nickee Wirth, Customer Service Manager at the Oxford Branch of Oxford Bank, describes the bank as a place where relationships matter just as much as financial services. Oxford Bank offers a wide range of lending options including car loans, home equity lines, mortgages, and business loans for cash flow, renovations, or building purchases. Nickee emphasized that you do not have to be a current customer to get a loan with them, which sets Oxford Bank apart from many credit unions. The bank aims to help anyone in the community who needs financial guidance or support.
Nickee explains that Oxford Bank is deeply rooted in community connection. The team works hard to build meaningful relationships by learning about customers both personally and professionally. She said, “We are a community driven bank. We want to know who you are, not treat you like another number.” Transparency is a cornerstone of the bank’s values. Customers receive a clear fee sheet at account opening, and the bank prides itself on straightforward, minimal fees. Nickee shared that their biggest goal is to help customers improve their financial well-being, save for the future, and feel confident about their options.
Community involvement is a major priority for the entire organization. Oxford Bank is a long-time sponsor of the Chamber and supports nearly every event the Chamber hosts. The team regularly sets up booths at the Oxford festivals, local school events, and home football games. Nickee said the goal at these events is not to sell. Instead, they show up to engage with families, hand out swag like rubber duckies and mugs, and simply support community gatherings.
Service extends beyond Oxford. All bank employees are required to complete community service hours each year. Staff often work together at the East Lansing food packing plant, helping prepare meals for families in need. The bank’s executive team participates annually in a homelessness awareness event where they spend a night outside in cold weather to raise awareness about challenges faced by unhoused individuals.
Employees can also complete volunteer hours independently at food pantries or other nonprofits. Nickee noted that the goal is to live out Oxford Bank’s mission of service in a hands-on, meaningful way.
Nickee and her coworker Casey represent the Oxford branch at Chamber events whenever possible. They attend Business Expos and try to join Coffee Connect gatherings when scheduling allows. Nickee said she enjoys the networking and hopes to continue being more involved as community events arise.
To anyone in Oxford, Nickee wants people to know that the bank is always willing to help, even if someone is not looking to switch financial institutions. She said that customers or non-customers can stop in simply to ask questions about loan options, financial planning, or next steps for their family goals. “We’re here to talk. We’re not going to push you to bank with us. If you just need help figuring out a plan, we are happy to sit down with you.”
With a people-first approach, transparent services, and a deep commitment to community engagement, Oxford Bank continues to be a trusted and supportive presence in Oxford.
