Michigan Timber Shack

Michigan Timber Shack is a locally owned tree farm and nursery that has been serving the Oxford area since 2015. Led by owner Bob Cadeau, with Sonya Boren playing a key role on the team, the business has grown into a destination for homeowners, landscapers, builders looking for high quality trees, plants, lumber and live edge slabs.

“We’re a local tree farm and nursery,” Bob explained. “We offer a wide variety of large evergreens, large deciduous trees, bare root items, fruit trees, perennials and so much more.” Michigan Timber Shack is open year-round, allowing customers to visit in every season and see the property continually evolve. “Every week it changes. That’s what we shoot for,” Bob said, noting that many people stop in just to walk the grounds or see what’s new.

Beyond nursery stock, Michigan Timber Shack offers dimensional lumber, live edge slabs, and select milling services, along with custom wood projects such as shelves, bartops, tabletops and countertops. “We also offer deer blinds, chicken coops and storage sheds,” Sonya shared.

A seasonal produce stand at the front of the property has become a favorite for the community and is now entering its fourth year. The stand features locally grown fruits and vegetables, honey, jams, and other goods sourced from nearby farms and producers. “Everything is locally sourced,” Bob said. “We are working with our gardeners and farmers in nearby communities. We’re picking it up ourselves and bringing it here.”

Michigan Timber Shack also supports landscapers, contractors, and builders through special pricing, installation services, and upcoming meet and greet events. Landscape design services are returning this year, along with expanded product offerings like tree staking kits, drip irrigation supplies, fertilizers, and pest protection.

One on one customer interaction is a point of pride. Bob shared that the best way to learn about Michigan Timber Shack is simply to visit. “It’s very deceiving until you come back,” he said. Sonya added, “People say all the time, ‘I had no idea all this was here.’” The team encourages customers to stop in, ask questions, and experience the space firsthand, whether they are seasoned gardeners or brand new to planting.

Educational workshops are another cornerstone, including a popular fruit tree class that helps customers learn pruning, care, and long-term success. Deeply rooted in community support, Michigan Timber Shack regularly donates trees, gift cards, and services for local events and memorial plantings.
