Lume Cannabis Company, located at 595 South Glaspie Street in Oxford, was one of the first legalized cannabis retailers in the village. Store Manager Morgan Danhausen shared that Lume is approaching a major milestone, celebrating four years in Oxford this April. “We were one of the first dispensaries Oxford gave a license to,” Morgan said. “I helped open the store, and I’ve been here from the beginning, along with my entire management team.”

Lume is proudly Michigan made and Michigan grown. As one of the largest vertically integrated cannabis companies in the state, Lume controls every step of the process, from cultivation to final product. Indoor flower is grown at their facility in Evart, Michigan, while outdoor flower comes from a sun kissed grow site farther north. The company also produces its own edibles, concentrates, vaporizers, and a growing rosin line out of Lansing. “We grow all of our flower and make most of the products you see in our store,” Morgan explained. “That consistency really matters to our customers.”

One product line that has surged in popularity is Lume’s THC infused beverages. “The drinks have taken over the market this past year,” Morgan said. Their Buzzn drinks offer a non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated option with carefully measured dosing. “We typically start people at five milligrams. Half a can is a great place to start,” she added. “It’s been the drink of the summer.”

Education and personalized service are central to the Lume experience. Unlike traditional dispensary setups, Lume focuses on one on one guidance. “We take people back individually and give them the time and attention they deserve,” Morgan said. Staff walk customers through ingredients, dosage, allergies, and comfort levels. “We want people to feel confident and set up for success when they go home.”

Morgan shared that many customers come in seeking relief for sleep issues, pain, anxiety, or nerve related conditions. “We see people from all walks of life,” she said. “Some are brand new and have lots of questions, and that’s what we’re here for.” While Lume staff do not provide medical advice, their training and backgrounds help guide thoughtful recommendations. “We’re not doctors or a pharmacy, but we’ve seen what works for a lot of people in this community.”

Community involvement is also a priority. Lume regularly supports community events, small business expos, and local initiatives. Last summer, the team partnered with K-9 Stray Rescue League to host an adoption event on site. “Oxford reminds me of a small town with a big heart,” Morgan said. “Being part of the community and breaking down stigma through education is really important to us.”

Despite recent changes to Michigan’s cannabis wholesale tax, Morgan emphasized stability and transparency. “Retail tax did not change, and we’re not going anywhere,” she said. “Oxford has been wonderful to us, and we’re very thankful to be here.”

Four years in, Lume Cannabis Company remains focused on quality, consistency, education, and community connection. As Morgan summed it up, “It’s been really cool to be along for the entire journey and build those relationships with the people of Oxford.”
