Step Into Style at Blu Ivy Furniture, Decor, & Interiors
Blu Ivy has always been known for its beautiful style, but co owner Patty Schattler wants the Oxford community to know that the shop is far more than a furniture store. After moving from Main Street to their new location on Burdick Street this past year, Blu Ivy has become a vibrant place where shoppers can find custom furniture, gorgeous decor pieces, and an impressive array of giftables.
Patty smiles as she describes the wide variety of items inside the store. “We sell custom upholstery along with rugs, but we also sell candles, lamps, pictures, mirrors, and accessories,” she says. “It is a one stop shop if you want to put your house together or if you want to buy a gift for someone.” The mix of products is intentional. Patty wants to break the assumption that Blu Ivy is only about furniture. She says many people walk by and think it is strictly a furniture showroom, but there is so much more inside.
Blu Ivy offers pieces that can be purchased right off the floor, along with furniture that can be customized to suit a client’s taste. Shoppers can choose fabrics, wood colors, and finishes to create something that feels personal and unique. Patty explains that many people know what they like but are not sure how to pull it all together in a way that feels cohesive. “They can come in for a free consultation right in the store,” she says. “We can show them fabrics, lamps, and accessories. They can share pictures and dimensions and we can help them make it make sense.”
The new location has turned into a destination for shoppers who want both convenience and variety. Parking is much easier, with spaces available in the front and back, and Blu Ivy is surrounded by other growing businesses. Visitors can shop at Blu Ivy, then stroll to Victoria’s, the movie theater, The Tap, Caveman and Pip, Cherie Amour, or Wild and Rooted. It is becoming a lively area for an afternoon of browsing and local support.
Patty has attended several Chamber Coffee Connects and enjoys the chance to hear from other business owners. She likes learning how others drive foot traffic and what ideas are working in town. She was excited to hear about various events, including the Apothecary’s Coffee Connect and the Christmas Parade.
For Patty, the most important message is simple. She wants people to stop in, look around, and discover all that Blu Ivy has to offer. “Parking is better, shopping is better, and there is so much to see,” she says. The store welcomes anyone looking for a gift, a new decor piece, or a little design guidance. Blu Ivy continues to be a warm and inspiring place to shop, and Patty is proud to be part of the growing retail community on Oxford’s south side.
