Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Kee Realty: Built on Relationships
.
Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Kee Realty Oxford has become a familiar name across Southeast Michigan, but its roots are grounded in relationships rather than branding. Andrea DeGasperis, branch manager, leads a team that emphasizes connection, trust, and long-term service over transactions.
.
Formerly known as Real Living John Burt Realty, the company transitioned after John Burt’s retirement and an acquisition with Real Living Kee Realty. Since then, it has rebranded under the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices name while continuing to expand its reach. Today, the brokerage includes approximately 40 agents at the local branch, more than 500 agents company-wide, and 11 offices serving Southeastern Michigan communities from Port Huron to Monroe, with plans to expand into Ohio.
.
“We are a full-service brokerage,” DeGasperis explained. “We are primarily real estate with realtors, but we also have in-house title companies and mortgage brokers.” This structure allows clients to navigate buying and selling with support at every step of the process.
.
What sets Kee Realty apart, according to DeGasperis, is how agents are trained to grow their businesses. Rather than relying on online lead generation, the focus is on relationships and referrals. “We really pride ourselves on relationship building,” she said. “We’ve trained our agents to build their businesses by referrals and not by paid Internet leads.”
.
That philosophy shows up in the way agents support their clients, sometimes going far beyond expectations. Jenine Sparks shared an example involving agent Teresa Karsney, who helped her son resolve a major obstacle before closing. “Teresa literally drove her tractor from her house all the way to Goodrich because the home needed foundation work in order to close,” Jenine said. “She helped move boulders so the foundation company could come in and do their work.” DeGasperis exclaimed, “That’s a great example of what our agents do for our clients.”
.
For Kee Realty agents, involvement in a deal is personal. “We’re in the deal just as much as the buyer or the seller,” DeGasperis said. “We’re emotionally connected. We care. It’s not just a paycheck or a transaction to us.”
.
The brokerage also values giving back. As a company, Kee Realty supports Big Family of Michigan, an organization that provides resources for children in foster care, including those aging out of the system. In addition, individual agents contribute their time and support to animal rescues and other local foundations.
.
As the company continues to grow, its mission remains consistent. “Connecting with our sphere of influence, the people we know and the relationships we’ve built, is what matters most,” DeGasperis said.
