Advance Carpentry

Brian Morang has been transforming spaces for decades. Through Advance Carpentry, he has built relationships, trust, and a reputation rooted deeply in the Oxford community.

“We’re a full service remodeling company,” Brian explains. “Specializing in decks, gazebos, pool houses, screened in rooms, basements, kitchens, bathrooms, trim work of all types.” While the list of spaces is extensive, Brian is quick to clarify what truly sets his work apart. “We kind of work as a general contractor and bring the whole project together from start to finish.”

AdvanceCarpentry focuses primarily on remodels rather than new builds, transforming existing spaces into something entirely new. On the exterior side, Brian often reworks aging decks, giving them new life with modern composites and PVC products. “Metal rails, vinyl rails, cable rails, glass rails, any of the above,” he says.

Indoors, the work is just as intentional. Standing inside a fully renovated lower level,Brian points out a defining detail. “In this case, we added live edge. I think the live edge really gives a lot of character to the basement.” That philosophy turned what was once concrete walls into a fully livable lower level, complete with a kitchen. “To a lower level, not just a basement,” Brian notes.

Community involvement is not an afterthought for Brian. It is central to how he operates.“I try to be very active in the community. I’m in the Chamber. I am involved in two networking groups. After more than 25 years as an owner operator, Brian says about half of his work comes from repeat customers, with the rest driven by community connections. “Having my name out there, being in the community.”

I try to work with everybody in the community.” On this project alone, local partners included NES Plumbing, Northern Floors, and Egress Solutions. “We try to bring in a lot of different local businesses to make everything work.”Giving back matters too. Advance Carpentry has supported Habitat for Humanity, local churches, and projects like the pavilion at Journey Lutheran.

HomeownerJack Curtis experienced that difference firsthand. “We were in the market tohave work done, so we called some ads and had people come over and give usbids,” Jack says. “Then, I ran into Brian at a Chamber Coffee Connect.” ChoosingAdvance Carpentry meant choosing familiar faces, trusted partners, and local accountability. “We kept the income local. We kept the purchasing local. We kept everything local,” Jack says. For Jack, the decision came down to something simple. “It’s great to be a Chamber member because you get exposure to the community and the local businesses that are here,” he says. “Buy local. It matters more than people realize.”
