Accounting With Integrity: Hunter CPA Group’s Commitment to Quality Over Quantity
.
Hunter CPA Group P.C., led by founder and CPA Brenda Hunter, is a trusted, full service accounting firm in the heart of historic downtown Oxford. Brenda has served the area since 2003, building deep relationships with individuals and businesses alike. The firm traces its origins to Filak CPA Group, where Brenda was a partner before purchasing the business in 2018. That transition marked the beginning of Brenda Hunter, CPA, now operating as Hunter CPA Group. That same year, the firm moved into its current location after Brenda purchased a “beautiful building in historic Oxford,” further solidifying its long term commitment to the community.

Hunter CPA Group offers comprehensive services including personal and business taxes, multi-state filings, accounting, payroll, and consulting. As Brenda explains, “We’re a full service CPA firm. We do taxes for personal, business, estates. We do accounting, we do payroll, we do just about everything consulting.” What truly sets the firm apart is its client focused approach. “We get really invested in our clients. We care about our clients,” Brenda says, emphasizing that the firm prioritizes guidance and long term relationships over transactional work.
.
The firm is supported by a dedicated team of nine employees, many of whom have been with the company for years. Brenda describes the culture simply and proudly: “We have a great team. We really do. We’re like family.” That sense of warmth extends to clients as well, with an assist from Teddy, the office “therapy” dog. “Some of them know Teddy more than they know any of the people here,” Brenda jokes, noting that the relaxed, welcoming environment often surprises clients who expect a more formal CPA office. “I think some people are afraid to go to a CPA. They think it’s going to be a very stuffy environment and our office is not like that at all.”
.
Giving back is a core value for Hunter CPA Group. The firm actively supports local events such as Soup and Stroll, the Scarecrow Festival, and numerous downtown initiatives. They also contribute to area schools, youth sports, Love INC, and the Pan Equus Animal Sanctuary, focusing on causes that are “near and dear to us.”
.
Currently, the firm is not accepting new clients, a decision rooted in integrity and quality. “Quality is important… we feel it’s more important than quantity,” Brenda explains. That may change in the future.
